Isabelle Boucoiran

Dr. Isabelle Boucoiran (MD, MSc) is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Montreal (Canada). She graduated at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France) and completed a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the University of Montreal and a fellowship in reproductive infectious diseases at the University of British Columbia as well as a Master’s degree in Clinical Research. She is a mid-career Clinician-Scientist at the School of Public Health of the University of Montreal and the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the CHU Sainte-Justine, where she is Co-Director of the Women and Children's Infectious Diseases Centre (CIME). Her main area of research is the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infections in pregnancy, with a focus on women living with HIV, cytomegalovirus infection and chorioamnionitis/preterm prelabor membrane rupture. Her research expertise is at the crossroads of several fields, from basic science to epidemiology and public health. Her research program is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQ-S) and the Quebec Health Ministry. As a member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada infectious diseases committee and leader of the chorioamnionitis group in the Canadian Preterm Birth Network, she is involved in the development of national guidelines, protocols and online courses. She also sits on the United States Health & Human Services Panel on the Treatment of Pregnant Women with HIV Infection and the Prevention of Perinatal HIV Transmission as liaison of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.
